Spider 3d Half-ball Placecard

Triangle-perforated circle shapes build the geodesic dome top
and mid ring of the spider body. Attach body to the pentagon base .
Add flange-welded leg shapes to side edges, eyes to front.
Insert round toothpick (or equiv.) at top intersect joint
and wrap within pennant flag for placecard.
Or include a hanging web strand for a dangling decoration.
A great companion prop (omit the stick & flag) for the "witch 3d figure".
Measures approx. 4" wide x 2.5" front to back x 2.25" tall (plus flag).

ASSEMBLY:
1. Identify and cut the shapes:
A top row of circle panels (5)
B bottom row of circle panels (10)
C eye dots
D base pentagon shape
E right set of legs: 2 tall, 2 short
F left set of legs: 2 tall, 2 short
G place card sign tag

2. Prepare the circle panels by bending the three edge curved 'tabs' forward.

3. Five circle panels will be joined for the top cap of spider body. Tops of all 'triangle' fold formations will come together at the center top.

Position first pair of circles, angle top points together to view how the adjacent side tabs will be joined.

Apply adhesive to one of the tabs that will be joined, then align and apply pressure to join. It may be helpful to turn the shapes over to view the seam from the backside to check for edge and points alignment accuracy.

4. Continue to line up to visualize which tabs will join, then apply adhesive, align and adjust, and apply pressure.

Join panel 3 (shown here) then 4 & 5.

5. Join the free tab of circle 5 to that of circle 1 to form cap. Place cap on flat surface to arrange joined tab flanges perpendicular as shown, and edge tabs flat.

The center top where points join may be practically closed, especially with high accuracy. If you plan to insert the tooth pick pennant flag/label stick, you may wish to poke the stick through to open the hole before the tabs adhesive is hardened.

6. Ten circles will be joined for form the bottom row of spider body.

Arrange a pair of circles with the triangle shapes created by the perforation lines pointing up (left) and down (right) as shown. Appy adhesive and glue to two tabs together.

7. Arrange and join the remaining circles into four more pairs.

8. Join the pairs side by side into one panel, with the 'point direction' alternating up/down.

9. Form the row into a ring and join the end circles in the same up/down arrangement.

10. Attach the name pennant flag and stick at this point, if desired.

11. Bend the top free tabs of the ring outward to create a group of five tabs that will receive the bottom tabs of the cap assembly.

Apply adhesive to cap or ring tabs, then join cap to ring tabs. Work around to adjust and align the tabs so edges line up as exactly as possible.

12. Bend the bottom tabs of ring outward to create a five-tab platform to receive the base shape.

Apply adhesive to ring OR base tabs, then line up, press together, and adjust edges for accuracy of all curved edges.
13. Determine the front of the half-ball shape where one of the cap tab flanges comes straight forward. Position and attach one eye circle on each side of the center front flange as shown.

14. Prepare to attach one set of legs by identifying leg sizes.

Front/back leg shape has a slightly shorter bent leg that attaches to the circle tab closer to the bottom.

Middle leg shape is slightly taller and attaches to the circle tab nearer to the center.

15. Apply glue to the backside  of the front leg, then position at the tab flange one position to the side of the center front. Attach tab shape at leg end exactly over the front of the tab.

16. Position and attach a mid leg shape to the back of the same tab as front leg is attached to.

17. Move to the next tab flange around toward dome back to position and attach a mid leg to the front  of the tab. Attach back leg to the back of the same tab.

18. Repeat steps 13-16 for the opposite side set of legs.
